re-enforces our identity, a good step ahead

A caveat here is that Persian sailorship began under the achaemenids but i guess the director didnt wanted to piss too many ppl at the ershad ministry.

I must say, the comments here are rather ironic. the older generation blasted the shah for the 2500 anniversary celebrations and here we are (the youth) having watery mouths everytime we see something that looks remotely persian!

 the irony of our times!

In hope of a Free, Independent, Democratic and Secular Iran

The leading actress, Pegah, portrays a Chinese girl, but Pegah's eyes look very Persian to me! Here is what Wikipedia says about her:

Ahangarani was arrested on 27 July 2009 in the wake of the turmoil after the 2009 presidential election, allegedly for her work in support of opposition candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi.[4] She was later released but arrested again on 10 July 2011 prior to her planned trip to Germany to report on the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup for the Farsi service of the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle.[5] She was released from Evin Prison two weeks later on the equivalent of $84,000 bail after expressions of "outrage among foreign governments and human rights organizations".

Wow! She is a very special person! She is easy-going too:

As Yolanda said the movie remind us of Pirates of the Caribbean. It seems to be a great movie, very Hollywoody.

Didn't Persian Navy begin with Achaemnids and Sassanian?

If you need hollywood wanna be movies to establish your "national identity,"  you might be in deep do-do.

Recall that national or personal identity like all other social functions are eternally evolving, changing, forming and deforming.

Interesting genre for an Iranian movie!

by Arj on

Yet, despite abundance of able, seasoned actors in the film, the lead actor (Radan) sucks badly (he can't act)! Why couldn't they get someone who can?!

P.S. This seems to be a Persian version of Sinbad movies!

Equivalent of Titanic

This is obviously a remake of a spaghetti remake of the Titanic in Persian and all it is missing is for him to say I am the King of the world.  Then it will be complete.
