From the clip description on YouTube: An Iran Air Boeing 727-200, registration EP-IRR performing flight IR-742 from Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia) to Tehran Imam Khomeini (Iran) with 94 passengers and 19 crew, was on approach to Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport around 15:20L (11:50Z) when the crew did not receive a down and locked indication for the nose gear and aborted the approach. Following unsuccessful troubleshooting the crew decided to divert to Tehran's Mehrabad Airport where a low approach confirmed the nose gear was not extended. The crew subsequently performed a landing without the nose gear on runway 29L at about 16:00L (12:30Z) and came to a stand still on both main gear and the nose of the aircraft. The aircraft was evacuated, no injuries occurred. The pilot of this flight was captain Hooshang Shahbazi.

by yolanda on Tue Oct 25, 2011 06:17 PM PDTI am glad that the pilot was able to land the plane safely and all the passengers are unscathed!
Several years ago, I watched the live coverage of Jet Blue land in LAX with faulty nose-gear, the plane circled in the air for several hours and also dumped some of the jet fuel......the landing generated a lot of sparks, it was scary:

thanks zztop !
by Hafez for Beginners on Tue Oct 25, 2011 04:47 PM PDTzztop: Thanks for the link to John Kerry's captain who was Iranian, too! What is it about Iranian captains? They also land the planes so smoothly - ( those who fly with Iran Air could attest to it.) Terribly impressive all around. And of course, another mashalla! to Captain Shahbazi.
If it was in US he would have received a medal of honor
by Disenchanted on Tue Oct 25, 2011 03:09 PM PDT...and be recognized as a national hero.
Iranian bashers of Iranian.com MAKE a note of the Iranian home made talent!
This should be in the Yahoo & Google news page. An amazing feat!
Captain Moniri,

Wow!!! (do see to the end of the clip)
by Hafez for Beginners on Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:52 AM PDTHeivoonaki and Barikalla! Iranian pilots have always been the coolest. I've never understood it, but love it.
JOHN KERRY:
Wasn't there an Iranian pilot flying John Kerry's Campaign Plane in 2004?
Amazing for how long/what speed he can keep the nose up....
by Bavafa on Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:14 AM PDTGreat piloting, glad it went all safly and without any cost to human lives.
'Hambastegi' is the main key to victory

by moniri on Tue Oct 25, 2011 10:28 AM PDTI am sure they find parts for all these 40 years old planes, but thats not original parts from Boeing or who ever makes them, they are scrap parts from some other planes,we hardly seeing any B727 flying these days in US or in EU,they are ban to fly to major Airports, because of engine noice,so go and figure out.( do they make any parts for PAYKAN).
EP-IRR
by moniri on Tue Oct 25, 2011 10:17 AM PDTwell, I used to fly this B727 back in 1976/77,that was when it arrived fron Boeing,it was last B727 Iran got,as you all see it's almost more than 40 years, now keep saying down to america, shame.
Bravo!
by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Oct 25, 2011 10:14 AM PDTCool as a Tehran breeze! Now THAT's a pilot!
I just hope this in not a warning sign that Iran Air's Boeing fleet is suffering as a result of US sanctions. I'm not sure if repairs and spare parts are still legally available to Iran Air. There are so many sanctions, and so many in the works, that one loses track of what's not banned under sanctions.
If this Pilot was in America
by statira on Tue Oct 25, 2011 09:44 AM PDTHe would've been a hero, write a book and was all over the media. But in Iran he is lucky if he doesn't go to jail.
Happy landing!
by Anonymous Observer on Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:13 AM PDTThey should just scrap this airline and have people travel by buses and trains. It's insane to use these museum pieces flying at this point. They're playing with people's lives.
