Ali Reza Shahsavari: Lunatic

Rowdy passenger charged by grand jury

Amarillo.com: A Florida man arrested Tuesday on a federal charge of interfering with a Southwest Airlines crew assaulted a flight attendant and damaged an aircraft bathroom before the plane made an emergency landing in Amarillo, a federal indictment said. A Lubbock grand jury on Wednesday indicted Ali Reza Shahsavari, 29, for “assaulting and intimidating the flight attendant and flight crew member.” The indictment was publicly released Thursday. Before a court hearing Thursday in Amarillo, Shahsavari gave a breathless rant about his immortality. “Welcome to your salvation,” he said. “You can’t be harmed in this room. I saved your life.”After reading a copy of the indictment, Shahsavari asked, “How is this a crime of violence?” Shahsavari’s attorney, Jeff Blackburn, said Shasavari’s sister, who was in the courtroom Thursday, was taking him to Florida to get help for schizophrenia >>>

Veiled Prophet of Khorasan

One more thing

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

I had a run in with the Texas police in 1981. It was not a good time to do so. I was driving cross country with some friends from California to Florida. Ironic isn't it :-) We had stopped on the way and did a little trip to Mexico on foot! Drank like a fish and got totally *** up. My friend who was the "designated driver" suddenly decided he was too tired to drive in the middle of the desert at 11 pm. There was nothing but desert. I figured I was sober enough to drive on: big mistake.

To make a long story short we got pulled over by the local sheriff. I was scared ***. The guy was quite polite and professional. Asked my name and guessed I was Iranian. I said yes. He was obviously none too happy about it. But still acted professionally. Gave me the standard breathalyzer test; I passed and let me go. I was treated no different than any local would have been which was nice. Still I figured the best thing was to go to a motel and sleep the whole thing off. Next day got in the car and moved on.

Remember this was the aftermath of the hostage crisis. Iraians were not popular. And we were in a very remote part of Texas. If he wanted to he could have shot me and been done with it but he didn't.

Dear VPk, I am NOT a ....

by Oon Yaroo on

psychologist, a psychiatrist, a lawyer, or an investigative authority! I just try to apply common sense here!

As you stated, the question is whether or not this person is  mentally sick or not! And whether or not he has committed all the things the witnesses have testified he has done!

Those questions need to be answered and addressed by the medical and legal experts.

The thing that is profoundly disgusting, absurd, and hypocritical is for the America bashers to come here to play the race and religious card, trash the legal system, the justice system and every other aspects of our country (I am a US citizen and proud of it!)

And, when you defend your country, you are considered as insulting the insulter!

Now, I know deep down in his heart and based on his journalistic principles and values JJ does NOT believe in deleting this comment!

Dear Oon Yaroo

First of all I do not approve of your post being flagged. But this is not a matter of taking sides. It is a matter of is this guy mentally sick or not. Next did he plan to do any harm to anyone or was he just ranting.

Assuming all the rest is true then there are three possibilities:

  • He is mentally sick and had no plans to harm anyone then he is "not guilty". And should get treatment.
  • The guy is sick but did mean to harm people then he may be "guilty but insane".
  • If he is neither then he is "guilty" period.

The justice system has not ruled yet and he will have appeals. No matter what there is no excuse for giving him "old medication". Or not informing the flight staff. The real crazy is whomever put him on the flight without precautions.

I am confused

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

Is this guy mentally disabled or what is going on. There is a person in my wifes family 100% American meaning non Iranian. He has schizophrenia. We found him in a fetal position gibbering one day. Took him to the hospital.

They gave him medication and he got back to reality. While in his delusional state he was ranting bible. Instead of Allah he was screaming for Jesus to save him. This is not "nane man gharibam" this is a real mental problem. The problem is partly with his doctors and family. If the guy really has it the flight staff should have been informed. And he should have been provided medication. Airline staff are not trained to deal with this and should be at least informed.

I was on a flight once with a man with a mental problem. The man would periodically scream and go into fits. The staff had been informed and had him sitting with a companion. He was not arrested or restrained. But it scared the heck out of me.

So, I see someone who takes the side of the American Justice

basher has flagged my comment.

This is great!

A pro IRR trashes America is acceptable on this site!

But a pro American trashes IRR is considered bad on this site!

Absolutely great!

System to blame

by hajj khnom on

This is what happens when mentally sick people do not receive appropriate treatment. A psyche person can harm self and public.

Typical naneh man gharibam bazi of hypocrites...

naneh man gharibam bazi of hypocrites who accuse American courts of being biased in this case and I suppose their beloved IRR barbaric justice system is simply just and fare! Bluh bluh bluh...

Jail and Chosen people

by Mohammad Ala on

I agree.... the "chosen people" in the video lied.... Reza did not approach the cockpit.  Court records also have shown that Race and/or Religion have affected the outcome.

Reza has schizophrenia.  Jail is not the place for him.

Poor man

I feel sorry for him, since being a Muslim from Iran does not help him to have a fair trial.

Oon Yaroo

Some simple questions....?

by Oon Yaroo on

Does this guy have a history of violent outbursts?

Did his doctor in LA know about his conditions?Better yet, did he have a doctor or did he seek getting treatment prior to this incidence?

Did his family members/sister/custodians know about his violent conditions? Did he abuse them? Is there any record of it?

Was this guy ever locked up in a mental institution?

Now, If this guy was so mentally disturbed (stating the obvious) that required him  to seek special treatment in Florida then why in the world didn't his doctor/sister in LA give him some pills to sedate and calm him down during the long flight? Or better yet, why didn't they inform the Airliner that Een Yaroo has these conditions and here is his doctor's letter, prescriptions, medications, etc.!?

Assuming that his attorney's claims about his mental conditions are all right and supported by evidence, where in the world did this guy learn, practice, and get good at shouting Allah o Akbar!? Did his sister teach him that? Did he pick it up from watching IRR TV channels, reading news papers, reading IC blogs written by elements of Hezbollah or what...!?

I think I am becoming like Andy Rooney of the CBS 60 Minutes show!

Ehaass

i know this person

by Ehaass on

he is a very sweet man, but he does suffer from mental ilness, and he has for as long as I have known him (from a distance).

That the media is making it more about him beiing Iranian and Muslim than him being sick is really disgusting.

I feel so sorry for him and his family. Iranian-Americans should support his family in this ordeal.

I was not on that flight and don't know the whole story, but I am very happy for the 'Chosen People' in the video who survived the ordeal........and thanks to Ben for his kosher reporting..............
