Late night, yesterday
In the cold weather of November
I was walking between many tents
Placed next to each other not too far from
The luxury stores in the San Francisco business district
Stores that sell one t-shirt for the price
Of a week’s food for a poor family
Perfume shops and handbag sellers and jewelers with an item
More expensive than a tuition for a semester of a college kid

As I was getting close to the occupiers
I could feel the confidence and the strength
The people with the wealth of unity
Occupiers were sitting in a group on cement structures
Playing, singing, dancing, chanting all calm and peaceful
Few drinking coffee or eating food
Few selling books
Few working on occupy logos and
Preparing for a long road ahead of them
