Farah in Chador

What an abomination. No wonder they did not hold on to power. Yup, AN is taking the same route. Good. We make sure to put in a picture of Persepolis in his jail.

Is that all it takes to win people over?

No. It does not. The fact that some people are saying he did one thing right does not excuse him. He still is in the dog house. Rather at his trial this shall be brought up as a mitigating point. Maybe shave off a year off the 1000 year jail.

Is that all it takes to win people over?

by Reality-Bites on

Aside from the reality that Ahmadinejad and the system he is part of are responsible for numerous crimes over the past 30 years or so, he and his IRI cohorts have done everything in their power to denigrate and undermine the Iranian national identity, culture and heritage in deference to their Islamic dogma.

And now engages in a little bit of spurious nationalistic PR, and he get pats on the back and "ahsants" all round. You gotta love the gullibility and the short memory of some people.

AN is actually doing something right; good for him. According to the book of Arda Viraf such people get a break in the afterlife. Perhaps some part of him will be spared the hottest part of doozakh.

AN was damned a long time ago. His place in the "mainovi" will be warm.

But maybe next year Ahmadinejad will invite us all to the New Year's celebrations. He may even charter some Russian planes for the guests!

choghok

Easy Iranian mind.

by choghok on

I guess it is easy control Iranians, for half of them talk good about hossein and ali and those guys, for the other half talk about cyrus and xerxes. Then it would not matter if you kill them and rape them, they would support you anyway.

Readin the comments here one can understand why  Ahmaghinejad doing this, to actually get support of non religious Iranians inside and outside of Iran. And he seems to be getting it. Populism wins once again.

He is a true Persian. I will vote for him if they let him to run again. The man has balls, no doubt about that.

Fake or not, my hats off to Ahmadi

by SamSamIIII on

Fake or not. I judge folks per action & per their views on kiaan & Iran. Some of those who have a problem with Ahmadinejad showing mild affection for kiaani icons are the same folks who have a problem with Kiaan ,period, and not necessarily with the messenger.  Within the context of Omaru Arabo republic in 30 yrs from bani abbass reformists to omaru fundamentalist herd the only group who has come even close enough atleast on the surface to acknowledge kiaani Iran & her overdue respect  is Ahmadi-Mashaii clan.

We all know Ahmadi is probably faking it to some extent but we also know that it takes courage & a little bit of true faith in Kiaan to actualy follow up on that agenda in that ocean of Arabo-Ommah. Now never mind Islamic republic, when was the last time that the status quo opposition ever talked of kiaani solutions and values within their daily rozeh khooni? when was the last time that Seyedeh Farah Diba or Reza Pahlavi or Mousavi/Khattami clan or mossadeghists or mujaheds or commies read excerpt about kiaani Iran or Cyrus(bbhs) on national or satelite TV?..never..but Ahmadi did on Omaru regime national tv & for that alone, my hats off to Mr Ahmadinejad, the pragmatic wise-nut.

Since at the end it matters not wether he is faking it or not but the opportunity for the present/future brainwashed generation to wake up & see a different shade of Iran & to see the light that has been suppressed for 30 years which ultimately shall come to haunt ommaties at the end.

So on that alone lets give the man a break .

Cheers!!!

AN knows how hated the regime is becoming and over the past year or so he has started to bang the nationalist drum to ingratiate himself to the people.

Abbas Milani says pretty much the same thing in this clip, at 11:02:

Mash Ghasem

This is just another BS act by Sepah / Mashaeyi

by Mash Ghasem on

to pose themselves as "true" Iranian nationalsits ( whatever that means) and get some burned out JMs,  monarchists, left over "Lefties" on their side. And you don't have to be genuis to guess who's gonna buy this BS and promote it here, Nameless Soliders of Imam are alrerady at it, in here.

Modern nationalsim being a product of the  18th century nation buliding efforts might be running out of steam in the 21st! Increasingly we have one Earth with many nations and a handful of  Multi-national Corporations running the whole show.

Bankrupt, now they are turning to the Persian heritage. It was like when the Shah wanted to become Islamic. Just want to let them know, "Aghayoon, Goozidid haala mikhaan khodetoonro begirid!!"

azadi5

AN is not stupid

by azadi5 on

He can see the downward sprial of the religious theocracy in Iran. What he is trying to do is to distance himself from it. He has been doing that for some time now, with the help of Mashai. But all this could be an effort to aplease the majority of people who hate this entire regime, by talking about Iranian values and nationalism. In theory, this is against whatever Khomanie and Khamenie stand for as they would put Islam before Iran.

It's the same thing with Rafsanjani, he is also distancing himself from the same downward spiral. That's what I think is one of the main reasons for him not running for khobregan's head position.

by vildemose on

Yes, the entire country has been taken hostage by a minority 'rligious cast' who are extremely violent and immoral. They kill for their God and their faith. How do you reform such a religious cult?

Ahmadinejad basically believes what Mesbah Yazdi does. People are 'hich kareh' and irrelevant.

Bahram G

A Crimial Devotion

by Bahram G on

So Ahmadi is a devote Muslim? Is he practicing his religion by shamelessly stealing an election, presiding over a most repressive government that beats, imprisons, rapes and kills people simply because they want to practice their rights of citizenship?

Devote Muslims like him are just as dangerous as the devote Nazis or any other extremist group (e.g. KKK in the U.S., Hujatieh in Iran, Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia).

Blind devotion is a dangerous fanaticism. This intolerant criminal should take his devotion with him to a hozeh in Qom and practice it in his private life and let the long-suffering people of Iran to practice their non-devoted ways of life.

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

He'll also give USA what they want in return for "peace" for the islamist regime, if you give him a bit of time. After all these are the biggest issues with the 1979 revolution and the islamist regime in eyes of some of us....

He's the real "reformist". If you want reforms within the boundaries of the fascist islamist regime, he's your man!

Norooz & Ahmadi

by fussygorilla on

Ahmadi has for a long time been trying to revive Iranian customs, traditions, and values in addition to appropriations for the renovations and renewal of ancient Iranian buildings and historical sites.  He is an Iranian nationalist.  No surprises here for his efforts to revive and expand and show off Noruz traditon to others. He is, of course, a devout Muslim too and a very honest and down to earth person based on his religious values. No contradiction there.  He has been trying for some time now to help bring up the standard of living of the poor and establish social and economic justice in the country (witness the successful "yaraneh' program) which of course has angered the wealthy and the theives inside and outside Iran.  I am, of course, aware that his enemies inside and out, refuse to accept this interpretation. Only time will tell.
