Islam (not Velayat Faqih) is compatible with democracy
by salman farsi on Sun Jul 10, 2011 11:03 AM PDTOne of the most delicate points missed by the likes of VPK and all those who berate Islam is the principle of Shura (consultation) which is inherent in Islam and more so in Shi'a Islam. Khomeini breached this fundamental principle by adhereing to the made up principle devised by Naraqi (in 19th century) and a golden opportunity to show the world that Islamic democracy can flourish was lost.
For an Islamic democracy
Dear Amir:
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sun Jul 10, 2011 10:55 AM PDTA realtive of mine (RIP), who spent time at various SAVAK jails whilst a student, and later same jails under Islamic regime, told me that SAVAK actually encouraged and even funded the islamist prisoners to fight against the left and secular prisoners. He actually once himself had a fight with the chief illiterate islamist thug, Lajvardi at SAVAK jail, for which he paid a high price later after the islamist regime took over.
Basically Amir, SAVAK used and encouraged Islamism as a tool against the perceived threat of soviet/cuban/chinese style of communism in Iran. This is precisely why the islamists were so organised, ready and could take advantage of the power vaccume created during 1978-79. The reason Khomeini was not killed, and sent to a nice comfortable house in Baghdad and later Paris before his flight back (business class of course!!) to Iran is just that.
If any consolation for us, other people in the region, including afghanistan and pakistan suffered from the same master startegy of islamists vs communists.

The Shah's biggest crime
by AMIR1973 on Sun Jul 10, 2011 08:25 AM PDTWas listening to the advice of Hassan Pakravan and Ayat. Shariatmadari and exiling this animal rather than killing him. When this animal returned to Iran in 1979 he had Pakravan executed and Shariatmadari (the most senior Ayat. in Shia Islam and the man who had helped spare Khomeini's life by making him a Grand Ayat.) severely humiliated and likely tortured as well. Think of how many countless lives could have been spared if the Shah had killed this Islamist thug before he had a chance to inflict his damage on Iran and the world.
What a dark clip, and I don’t mean light, exposure.
by عموجان on Sun Jul 10, 2011 07:58 AM PDTLook like Death is giving his last warring before the killing starts and his assassin are waiting for his order to attack.
I hope where ever he is now with his bosses Mohammad, Ali and rest of them are enjoying raping their 7 virgins and drinking blood of their victims they killed.

The Longer Islam Rules Over Iranians In Govt
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Sun Jul 10, 2011 04:37 AM PDTThe More Damage will be done to Islam.
We Now have 4 main groups in Iran.
1) Those who were never practicing Muslim.
2) Those who out of betrayal, shame, disgust and humiliation have left islam for good.
3) Those who are muslims but don't support IRI or Islam in Government.
4) Those who are muslim and love IRI all the way.
The longer Islam stays in Iran, the more people will leave 3 and join 2.
The less people in 3 join 1 and 2 to fight against people 4 and are silent regarding goodness, truth and human dignity, the sooner people 3 will be digraced and disowned by people in groups 1 and 2. The more people 3 sit on the fence the more their religion will be tarnished beyond repair.
Before the French revolution, mostly catholic priests ruled France, when it finally occured, there were over a million executions of people in group 3 and 4.
The time has long past for Islam to leave govt in Iran.
Muslims... Go nice and quietly... or the people of Iran will sooner or later not be able to restrain their anger and they will bury anyone that has anything to do with 4 or people that were muslim but quietly sat by and did not stop the bloodshed and crimes of IRI against fellow Iranians.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun Jul 10, 2011 03:56 AM PDTIt all depends on how you define the word "Great".
Khomeini was a "Great" **hole and "Great" as was Ghanighiz Khan. He did great evil and harm to people. There is no question he had great negative impact on Iran. He also did great disservice to humanity. One great thing he did was to open our eyes to Islam. He showed us what Islam really is. That service I thank him for :-) He proved Shariati and his nonsense about political Islam was wrong.
You see there is a silver lining to it. Once Iran recovers from this period we will have learned a lesson. A very pricey lesson but one we needed. No more falling for Melli-Mazhabi. Therefore we have a lot to thank him for as he burns in ***.
No
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun Jul 10, 2011 03:48 AM PDTIslam is not compatible with democracy as we know. It is compatible with a pseudo democracy where "Alama" or a gang of clerics decide. That is not democracy in its normal form.
Islam also marginalizes non Muslims into three gorups:
If you call that democracy then sure. But I don't call that democracy.

"golden age"
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sat Jul 09, 2011 09:47 PM PDTDuring an interview, recently I heared Mr Mousavi's spokesman eluding that his (Mousavi's) reference to "golden age" was the time when khomeini was in France promissing French republican style of democracy with a hint of islam to the people of Iran fed up with shah and his SAVAK.
Just an excuse? Yet another false promise? you be the judge of that.

by Jahanshah Javid on Sat Jul 09, 2011 09:22 PM PDTbesides his clear opposition to democracy from the earliest days, notice he talks about "enheraaf" -- a word being thrown around by pro-Khamenei camp these days to discredit Ahmadinejad and his friends. if the greens don't break completely with this guy and the "golden age"... they'll be history too.
