by Khebedin on Thu Jul 07, 2011 05:30 PM PDTWhat an interesting clip. This video clealy shows what a bastard he was. He deserved what he got. To this date I was against his execution but having seen this video I can understand the pain in those who were holding him for trial

Hoveyda
by Fatollah on Thu Jul 07, 2011 04:30 PM PDTwas not only an intellectual but an honorable man as well. God bless his soul, he was 50 years ahead of his countrymen in thinking and too civilized, a true Iranian sphinx.

why is it that whenever I see a picture of Hoveyda in jail......
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Thu Jul 07, 2011 03:58 PM PDTI think Ahmadinezhad??
in all fairness to Mr Hoveyda, he seems to have been a technocrat, an honest man doing his best for his employer, within the boundaries of the corrupt pahlavi court. Ahmadinezhad, on the other hand, has stolen billions of Iran's petro dollars, killed/ordered the killing of dissidents and demonstrators, and is in genaral a lier, charlatan and a thief. He'd have done very well as Shah's SAVAK chief

You have been less than truthful. It was shah who ordered the arrest of Hoveyda and Khlaatbari and several other officials becuase to save his ass he needed a escapgoat. This is what all the dictators do when they are in deep s..., like shah was.

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Thu Jul 07, 2011 01:47 PM PDTShah did not put hoveyda in this position.
Shah made it very clear to Hoveyda, he wanted him to leave the country and hoveyda refused. Shah also made it very clear to hoveyda, that no one could guarantee a fair trial for him and explained the movitavations of those that wanted him on trial.
Hoveyda's mistake was he did not forsee the collapse of the previous constitution, the military and the prime minister. He believed he could take on even an unfair trial and he was right... the problem was, the USA put khomeini in power and neutralized the military and government.
I met, hoveydas brother, before he passed away in new york and was absolutely clear after speaking with him that hoveyda would never blame the shah for not having a trial and being murdered in cold blood.
America on the other hand, as most Iranians that know of Americas decisive role in the betrayal of Iran and its people by creating fundamentalism I'm not too sure if Hoveyda could honestly forgive.
Ignorance is common among many people on these subjects, due to lack of accurate information.
My Question would be, can we Iranians that have accurate information of what happened ever forget the actions of the so called Free Democracies against Iranians, the usa, uk, france, germany specifically?
The impact of their neo-colonialism on iranians has been profound and represents a truly grotesque period of their relationship with Iranians.

Poor all Iranians.
by comments on Thu Jul 07, 2011 12:13 PM PDTStill, the sad is the majority of Iranians do not know what they want. They never knew. Do they know now?!! Do they know what they are looking for? Are they comfortable with freedom and democracy? Doesn't "freedom" threaten their life and belongings? Doesn't the freedom oppose to their abusing power?
(a) They let a government to stabilize, and (b) they overthrow the government and place the officials in prison and execute them (change all street names!) (c) they say to the world: sorry we made a mistake, and we have to exectute them. We never knew what we did and wanted.
When are we going to let the world know that we are less stupid than they think we are? Iranians need a teacher to teach them what to do and what is wrong or right, as always. I really think Reza Pahlavi is the only chance for Iran. I don't let the stupid majority determine the fate and destroy our pride and Persian root.
My father was his chief of staff
by mahmoudg on Thu Jul 07, 2011 12:04 PM PDTand as such, before Hoveyda was jailed, he gave him a fairly good sized chest, "sandoghche", with instructions that it should be kept until he is out of jail and given to his relatives if he was to die. Only a few people and history know what was in that chest............
Iran will only be free, if we support surgical attacks against one of the most notorious murderous regimes humanity has known. The Islamic Rapist cult in Iran must be annihilated.

Shah's Cowardly Act
by jasonrobardas on Thu Jul 07, 2011 10:53 AM PDTHoveyda worked for Shah for 30 years . Yet when all hell broke loose, Shah put him in prison in order to silence the critics. Thus Hoveyda faced his tragic fate!
This just reveals the very nature of tyrants who reign through political stagnation and torture of dissent . When it comes to power and self interest, they have no mercy for anyone .
Another shameful episode in the history of the savad Koohis(Pahlavis) regime.
Such injustice
by aliash on Thu Jul 07, 2011 10:43 AM PDTPoor Hoveda! Such a lost potential! It is hard to believe that the shah did this to his trusted Prime Minister. A man who served him blindly, putting aside his beliefs in freedom and democracy. It is also sad that Hoveda never got justice.
This is further proof that absolute government, monarchies and Islamo-fascists, etc., are nothing but disaster for all people. Even the ruling class suffers. I hope to live to see a true democratic republic in Iran where people with the potential of Hoveda can flourish and serve the people, if elected!
