EU to impose new sanctions

On Iran's officials and firms

BBC: The European Union has agreed to impose fresh sanctions on 180 Iranian officials and entities over Tehran's controversial nuclear programme. Ministers meeting in Brussels also agreed to work on other measures that could target Iran's energy sector. The sanctions follow a UN report that said Iran had carried out tests related to "development of a nuclear device". They also come two days after hundreds of Iranian protesters stormed the UK embassy in Tehran >>>

What make me

wonder is to see EU grovel due to its own incompetence. Their economy in shambles  and they want to hurt IRI? Gees they may even throw their bond ratings at them. Meanwhile William Hague is selling IRI tracking software.

The one nation which matters is America and that is IT. Better figure that out now and pick the right partner. MEK is nothing but canon fodder and it matters not what EU thinks. Other than if they manage to talk the Americans into it.

Islamic Republic is going down and will not be replaced by MEK. If Iranians play their hand right it will all turn out for better. No matter it is not Europe which is going to be calling any shots. The future of the region is in hands of America and Iran.

They should all close their embassies in Iran as well

no reason for anyone to have dipolmatic relations with this regime.

I agree with Fred

The only way to get rid of this regime is to cut off its blood line, which is oil.  They will fall apart without oil revenue.

about oil

If Europe, Japan, and South Korea abandon Iranian oil, customers such as China could push for discounts as big as 40 percent, starving the regime of funds needed for its nuclear and missile programs.

Sanctions & MEK

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

I am for sanctions but opposed to MEK. The problem is that EU has supported IRI for 33 years.  Now they want change and how. We had a perfectly good system which did not make anyone miserable. They overthrew it.

Now EU wants to go try all kinds of insane measures. MEK or whatever. If they really want a return to sanity go prop up RP. Whatever problem he got is not a maniac. Probably get a good 30 years of stability out of him without any problems.

sure, baby, give those mullahs some credit if you like, we're still banking on another revolution and MEK has got an A rating. And get with the programme, baby, no more "mature students" climbing nuclear walls; they should use candles until another UN turtle dove day, baby.
