There are many other Iranian Ph. D. and engineers. However they are insufficient for a nation. We need artisans and poets. Iran is nothing without her poets. I know Americans who know Iran by Rumi and Khayyam and to me Ferdowsi is the soul of Iran. We could make lasers and microchips to the end. 

But without Ferdowsi and Shahnameh; Khayyam; Saadi; Hafez; there is no Iran. Do not dismiss our poets. They define what we are. No amount of science will replace it.

Shame on you! Poets are the basis of our culture! In the old days they had bards who used to inspire warriors. No one will fight without inspiration: why should I fight for Khameneni? Yes for Iran I would but for a bunch of stinking mullahs no way.

We do not need "Shaer" we need "Sorood Goo" we need "Avaz Khan". Without poets Iran is nothing. Without painters and artists we have nothing but a bunch of hollow wars. Poets and artists ancient and modern. Including Feredyoon Farrokhzad are to soul of Iran.

Nwo go and read some poetry maybe it will teach you something. Read books like Shahanmeh and to a lesser extent one of my favorites "Divneh Balkh". The Norse used to take bards with them to inspire their warriors!

Poetry is big in Iran

Poetry is big in Iran culture, I agree. As for drawing inspiration? For what? You guys hate the mullahs. They have been rulling Iran for the past 30 years, what have you done to weed them out of your beloved, glorious homeland? It's just more cliche fluff, rhetoric. Nothing! Poetry won't save Iran, neither would backwards Iranian culture! It's time for a change if you ask me. Put all this poetry nonsense aside, start doing something. Not writing poems about saving your homeland from evil, that's laughable. The world laughs at us, cause of our stupidity.

You do not need to worry about that. In response to your other post I did list a large number of Iranian scientists. Hence you need not worry! By the way poets are the soul or Iran. Without Ferdowsi there would be no Iran!

I am fine and well my friend. I don't want got get in a debate here. I do appreciate what the Shah did. But he did screw it up. I will put up a blog to discuss Shah. Why don't Iranians get real

Why don't Iranians get real jobs? Poet? It's 2011, we need engineers, scientists, and doctors.. Not "poets". lol

Persian Poetry is unique!

When it comes to poetry we can say justifiably: "Honar nazd Iraaniaan hast o bas!"

I wish her all the best. She has already contributed enormously to her country's cultural heritage and literature. Hopefully she will be able to contribute even more.

I simply adore her voice, body language, posture, intonation, sense of fashion and most importantly her patriotic and nationalistic poems.

در ایران امروز همه چیز شده گلایه پشت درها. حالا زنان شیردلی مانند هیلا برای من و شما که پشت بلاگها و درها فریاد میزنیم ولی این شیر زن مقابل گرگها ایستاده با شجاعت. کو ان غیرت درمردان ایران کو ان شجاعت این شیرزن در مردان. این تجاوز است به نسل جوان که اندیشیده به حفظ وطن. اخر تا کی بایستی  سکوت ، این هیلای شجاست که با شیپور ازادی برای وطن میجنگد. ای کاش مردان ایران یک سوم شجاعت این شیرزن را داشتند. مرگ بر این رژیم فاشیستی اخوندی .مرگ بر خائنان و وطن فروشان. ازاده باد شیرزنان ایران.  من و هر ایرانی دیگری که ادعای ازادی میکنیم بایستی از هیلا و امثال اوعضرخواهی کنیم چونکه ما بیعرضه هستیم.

Once again, a persian talent, a free spirit, a brave heart and her true words was persecuted and jailed by a regime which promotes the perverse "shahid culture", human sacrifice, to protect its murderous ideology and illegitimate place.

Once again, an iranian woman has made them feel shame for their criminal behavior towards our compatriots and this old civilization. And once again the freedom will triumph inevitably.

Sad news

Does any one know what the reaction of other poets/writers in Iran is regarding all the problems that Hila Sedighi faces? Unfortunately, not all of them are like her. I googled name of one and saw poems about Imam Ali, Hossein, Khoda. From her attire and some of her other poetry, I know this other lady poet is not religious but she writes poems to keep IRI happy. Meanwhile, there are few like Sedighi. We need more like her.

So sad to see this lovely, talented lady behind the bar for no rational reason. Iran is going through the darkest time in it's history. What a monster was born in 1979. Beyond the imagination. Dear Hila, our heart is with you.

Hila Sadighi is a BIG TREAT to IRR/IRI

Like the rest of SHIR Zanan e IRAN.  I am proud of her.  May GOD Protect this intelligent & beautiful young lady poetess from the thugs of IRR.

Iranian women are at the forefront of this resistance

Iranian women have proven to be at the forefront of this fight to gain their freedom with so many of them being put behind bars or force to flee the country.

Their resistance has been admirable in every aspect and they deserve our gratitude and support.

My hats off to every one of them, specially the talented Hila Sedighi.
