Norman Wisdom dies

Comedy actor, 1915 - 2010

BBC: Comic actor Sir Norman Wisdom has died aged 95, his son has confirmed. The London-born star was known for his slapstick film roles in the 1950s and 1960s, famously playing Norman Pitkin against frustrated boss Mr Grimsdale. Sir Norman became a cult figure in Albania, where his were the only films from the West allowed in the country. His family said he died at a nursing home on the Isle of Man on Monday evening, having suffered a series of strokes over the past six months >>>

در سال ۱۳۴۹،وقتی‌ که قرار بود سینما مولن روژ را دوباره بعد از بازسازی افتتاح کنند،کمپانی انگلیسی‌ تییمز ایشان را به همراه چند هنرمند دیگر به تهران آورد..چه غلغله یی شده بود و این مرحوم بسیار تحت تاثیر پایتخت ایران زمین و مردمانش قرار گرفته بود.

با ایشان بزرگ شدیم و مرحوم شازده دایی جانم،فیلمهای پروجکشن ایشان را برای ما در باغ به نمایش میگذاشت.

خدا ایشان را رحمت کند و عاقبت ما را به خیر.

Forgive my ignorance but I had never heard of him ...

I guess it must have aired in Tehran and Not Shiraz at the time ... Although I must have come across one of these episodes when I visited my cousins in Tehran.

He reminds me a little of an English version of Jerry Lewis

The name Norman Wisdom is synonymous with some of the most treasured childhood memories of many generations of Iranian children, myself included. He brought laughter and meriment to many lives, adults and children alike. This is how I shall always remember him: Trouble in Store (janjaal dar forooshgaah). May God Bless his beautiful soul.
