Iran Air hit by Sanctions

Most Iranian jets banned from Europe

AP: The European Union has banned most of Iran Air's jets from flying to Europe because of safety concerns, emphasizing that the move was not related to U.N. sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program. The 27-nation bloc also relaxed restrictions on two airlines from Indonesia and put a Suriname airline on its blacklist of carriers the EU believes do not meet international safety standards. Iran Air's Boeing 727s and 747s, along with its Airbus 320s, have been placed on the EU blacklist following a safety audit, Transport Commission spokeswoman Helen Kearns said >>>

Never Too Late!

by G. Rahmanian on

This is just the beginning. Let's hope for stricter measures by the EU.

The murderous regime of the militarists and their mullah backers must go!

Nader Jaan, Thank you for the response and advise

by Bavafa on

and I will take that to heart.

The area that I was looking to possibly modify is the wing root fairing and possibly wing tips, nevertheless I appreciate your advise.

My specialty was propulsion, and that was almost 25 years ago.......I would have gladly helped, but I think I am way too rusty! Please be very careful with the experimentals and never take anything for granted....as a fatherly advice.

bad new for iranian airlines

by azadi5 on

So, what are they going to do now? fly the crappy russian crafts to European destinations? I doubt it. It will be interesting to see how Iranian government reacts to this, will they ban KLM, BA, Lufthansa, Air France from flying to Iran? that will pretty much shot down the travel between Europe and iran, and make it very difficult for north Americans as well.

Prove EU wrong

by divaneh on

I think to piss EU off, they should cut their wings and use them as coaches between Tehran and European capitals.

Bavafa

I hope this is not a political motivated move

And I agree with UnitedIran that this is should have been in place alot sooner for the safty of the passengers and those on the ground.

UnitedIran: what was your specialty in Aerospace engineering? Would it be OK to bounce some thought/ideas on GA type design modification?

I have my own/built amateur built plane (not a business related thing)

Thanks in advance

About time....

by UnitedIran on

As a retired aerospace engineer, the ban should have been placed a long time ago. The planes are just too old and even with a good maintanace program, they are not safe. Makes it harder for our fellow Iranians to travel to Europe, but at least they are safer!!
