"Islamic Republic" daily paper: The Iranian Women's National Volleyball Team returned to Tehran after being defeated by Vietnam in the Asian championships. The defeat of the Iranian Women's National Volleyball team was not as bitter as the fact that they did not cover themselves properly especially in the month of Ramadan. It is unacceptable to see vulgar images of Iranian athletes on Internet sites. To those in charge of our country's sports we say: "Shame on you."

Very Silly uniform
by American Dream on Sat Sep 26, 2009 04:47 PM PDTAnd Iran should have a beach volley ball team? Why not?

by Support real Iranian Patriotic on Thu Sep 24, 2009 01:16 AM PDTfirst of all the uniform and dress code is approved by murderess velayate vagheeh.
Iranian girls and women in Iran & around the world has the guts to stand against this barbaric regime and make mockery of them, good on them.

The transparent
by yolanda on Wed Sep 23, 2009 06:37 PM PDTThe transparent or translucent pants don't bother me that much, but the hoods bother me a lot, they look oppressed. I hope they will be liberated from the mandatory IRI dress code soon. They really should make exceptions for athletes for the sake of their safety and well-being.

Hi!
by yolanda on Wed Sep 23, 2009 12:16 PM PDTMiNeum71: LOL!!
Desi: I agree with you 1000%.
IRI really does not care about winning the volleyball game, they are only obsessed with the dress code. Their priority is reversed!
Thanks,

Shame on IRI-Papers

How can our women be
by desi on Wed Sep 23, 2009 07:48 AM PDTHow can our women be athletic in restrictive clothing. Who can see a ball being lobbed at them when you have a hijab blocking your peripheral vision. I'd like to put the men of the IRI in pooshesh monasseb. I'm thinking straight jackets and muzzles.
Our sisters
by RezaKnowsAcu on Wed Sep 23, 2009 07:03 AM PDTOur poor sisters are being ridiculed and embarrassed, even by our own people. Its not their fault. Its our fault to allow this government to stay in power for 30 years and counting.

Yes, shameful it is but for different reasons ...
by IranPessar on Tue Sep 22, 2009 08:32 PM PDTSeriously, people who get excited from photos like these should be seeking psychiatric help. I am sure there must be a proper name for this condition. What is it with these extremist muslims that they can't control their own urges.
Yes, It is shameful! But shameful only because the Iranian Volleyball team will probably be the hottest if not the best team in the asian volleyball competition. These girls are probably the best looking girls in the competition but instead they had to cover it all up as if they have something to be ashamed of or to hide.
That said I applaud the Iranian women athletes who still make an effort and take part in these competitions despite all the nonsense they have to put up with. If they asked the men's volleyball team to dress up like this, all of them would give up volleyball.
Khar - I tell you what Jaleho's "take" is on the issue
by anonymous111.2 on Tue Sep 22, 2009 08:26 PM PDTOK, I'll try. Here we go:
It is alll about Israel trying to expand, with the help of its colonial back imperialist masters, by taking Palestinian land. The great Islamic Revolution and its brave leader Ahmadinejad are the only barriers to Israel and Facebook and Twitter, who try to force their will on the Middle East. Hezbollah and its brave leader who stood up to the Zionists and the BBC are the greatest people on the planet. Mousavi is bowing to colonialism and he is also a tool of MySpace and Nintendo Wii.
you know the rest.

by Khar on Tue Sep 22, 2009 05:14 PM PDTIt Supporters!!! ISLAM REPUBLIC SUFFERS FROM SEXULAL PARANOIA & DEVIANCY!!! And as the song goes: PARANOIA WILL DESTROY YA! I guess Molesting & Raping young Iranian men and women in the prisons is OK under ISLAMIC LAWS and FATWA. But If you are a woman in sports you have to warp and roll youself in a blanket and Laahaaf!

Shame on the Mullahs
by farokh2000 on Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:51 PM PDTIf there is justice in this World, these criminal Mullahs will pay big time for all their crimes.
How could you subject your athletes to such degradation by wearing all this garbage to compete in an International Tournament?
I am sure if there were any spectators, they would be laughing at these Iranian Players and thinking how backward they must be.
Shame, shame on the criminal Mullahs.
We should all be proud of the Iranian Athletes who still go out and compete under these horrible conditions.
Doktar Irooni
by Kamran Ramyar on Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:27 PM PDTThis photo of her beautiful butt and thighs further authenticates my long standing belief that our own "DOKHTAR IROONI" is the most beautiful and voluptous female on the face of this planet! Win or lose, my vote goes to this Iranian female athelete.
Vulgar volleyball
by Leonis on Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:25 PM PDTHey you idiots with negative comments about these ladies:
Those outfits (uniforms) were provided by the Islamic Repulic of Iran and those ladies are not at fault at at all. You can use some of your brain, if you have any, before commenting. Its not that a national volleyball team go shopping in the streets for their outfit.
Nothing
by yolanda on Tue Sep 22, 2009 11:02 AM PDTNothing wrong with her pants. The pants were see-through because of the perspiration. I agree with other bloggers that they would have won the game if they dressed like regular volleyball players. It is hard to win a match when you are wrapped around and suffocated like that. They were lucky that they did not get over-heated or heat stroke!
Shame on IRI!

She is in trouble
by Proud_To_Be_Anonymous on Tue Sep 22, 2009 10:36 AM PDTNot only she is wearing see through pants, she is also wearing a green jersey!
One of the Obaid Zakani's latifehs goes:
OMRAN naami raa dar Ghom mizadand. yekeesh goft: chon Omar nist , cherash zaneed. goftand: Omar ast, alef va nooneh Osman ham darad!
(Sorry I don't have Farsi font. I didn't want to tranlate it either fearing it would lose its funniness).
Shame on you "Islamic Republic" Daily Paper!
by Azarin Sadegh on Tue Sep 22, 2009 10:35 AM PDTVoila another contradiction: wearing a headscarf with sexy pants! But I'm sure it's not on purpose. It is only the bad quality of her uniform.
The caption on this picture, "shame on you", (written by the Islamic Republic daily paper) is truly disgusting. It only reveals one of the many problems that women have to deal with in an Islamic Iran. I'd rather say Shame on the journalist for only seeing her pants, instead of her good skills playing volleyball, and her determination in pursuing something she is passionate about.
I truly hope she doesn't get punished for the cheap choice of the uniforms, that shouldn't have been her personal choice. Azarin

by MRX1 on Tue Sep 22, 2009 10:27 AM PDTThey should have compete wearing Burka. Any way they keep saying "mahe mobarak ramezan" so if that's the case, then seems like people should be happy in this month so what better than what they are wearing?
