"Persian Cats"

A film by Bahman Ghobadi

"Kasi az gorbehaye irani khabar nadareh": As they are being released from prison, a young woman and a young man, both musicians, decide to assemble a band. They travel Teheran meeting with other underground musicians and try to convince them to leave Iran. Not having any chance to play in Teheran, they dream of leaving to play music in Europe. But that’s hard to make happen without money and a passport.

No One Knows About Persian Cats

This film was featured in the AFI film festival in Hollywood, two weeks ago.  It is frantically paced, gently humorous, and deserves a wide audience.

Roxana Saberi (writer) and Bahman Ghobadi (director) were in attendance at the AFI screening.  Both received a long and an enthusiastic standing ovation.

 It looks like the film is full actions. I wonder what happened between Roxanna Saberi and Bahman Ghobadi. The producer of this film claims to be the fiancee of Roxanna. He said that he will marry Saberi.....but Roxy's mom pushed him away outside the Evin prison....OMG! I still remember the drama!

The young couple in the movie is seeking political asylum in France.
