A film by Avisheh Mohsenin & Kai-Duc Luong, "Someplace Else" is the engaging portrait of a soul-blues-funk musician from the South Side of Chicago through the director's personal film journal. Weaving the narrative, photographic and lyrical content of the music in an unconventional and rhythmic way, this feature debut transforms the visual experience of a documentary into a fresh captivating journey of many facets. Screening in Los Angeles May 1st, 2009, at Director's Guild of America, Theater 3, 7920 Sunset Blvd, Los @ 9:30 PM >>>www.someplaceelsethemovie.com. Photo by Anne Holmes.

Serendipity!
by Nazy Kaviani on Thu Apr 23, 2009 09:34 AM PDTI was delighted to read about Avisheh Mohsenin on Iranian.com. I have known her family all my life, and I remember meeting her and her sister as young girls in Tehran, knowing even then that they would go far. And what a great accomplishment this is for a young Iranian woman!
I wish her the best in her well-launched career, her film project, and everything else in life. I am sure her beautiful mother and sister are delighted for her and that her very special father is looking on in approval and support from the ski slopes of heaven. Way to go Avisheh!
