Photo essay: Kerman

Enclosed are pictures of Kerman which I visited on my to Bam a few years ago. In fact I was there a few weeks before the devastating earthquake of 2003 that destroyed the old citadel built during the Ashkanian period. The city has many hidden treasures including the Ganjali Khan bathhouse which is located in the heart of the Kerman Bazaar. This newly restored bathhouse is interesting in that different classes of society bathed in their designated sections. Additionally the bathhouse has life-sized models depicting different scenes. Hotel Pars where I stayed had 5 star accommodations. One striking thing that caught my eye was the reception desk. Under the watchful eye of "Imam" there were flags of different countries most notably the United States. How things have changed.
