Iran releases Sarkuhi
From the newsroom of the BBC World Service
An Iranian journalist, Faraj Sarkuhi, has been released after serving a one-year prison sentence in Iran imposed for what the authorities called his negative propaganda about Iran and endangering state security.
Mr Sarkuhi's wife and children live in Germany, and his detention last year imposed an additional strain on the already difficult relations between Bonn and Tehran.
Shortly after being freed, Mr Sarkuhi telephoned his wife in Berlin to say he could not yet leave Iran as he had no travel documents.
His wife told the BBC she hoped he would soon be able to join them.
