Deep throat

October 6, 2006
iranian.com

I looked down the throat of loneliness
Reached in
And
Ripped out her tongue
So that she would stop complaining.

I lie awake
Listening to the sound of her
Pent-up silence
Pressing
Against the dark
Unyielding
Frame of the night.

Now, at least, like so many
She suffers in stillness.
Removed,
Sealed away,
From the
Mundane tyranny
Of daily life.

Only making
Nocturnal calls
When her
Muffled lamentations
Fall
On soundless walls.
