Last month more than 6,400 members on The Iranian Times mailing list were asked to vote for their favorite Iranian of the past year. There were no surprises. Mohammad Khatami received four times as many votes as the runner up: the national soccer team. And CNN's Christiane Amanpour got more votes than any other woman.
