TEHRAN - Passers-by cover their faces and escape after police used teargas
to disperse a group of students in Tehran's Vali-Asr square July 12. Fresh
violence erupted in Iran on Monday as police clashed with several hundred
protesting students in a Tehran square, witnesses said. Police dispersed
the students because they did not have a permit to hold a public protest.
The students are allowed to hold demonstrations on their university campus
without such a permit. (Reuters)
