Doing my best

I am sitting behind my desk,
Trying hard to do my best,
My thoughts are every where but here,
My heart is beating a tune,
A tune that will not be heard soon,
Trying hard to do my best,
Trying to make sense out of this test,
Questioning things that happened to me,
Why and Where and How is daily routine to me,
The sun is shining outside,
I just heard someone say,
"We have one life to live, don't let it waste"
I don't know why, but I keep
Singing this tune "Look what they've done to my soul"
My soul my very own,
I am trying to do my best,
But my heart can't rest,
It longs and craves for the unreachable best,
I am walking outside,
Looking at the people pass me by,
The sun has washed their sorrow, gave them life,
In their silence I feel they say:
"You have one life to live, don't let it waste"
I am sitting behind my desk,
Trying to do my best,
But I can't help it,
My thoughts are somewhere else...
