In 1991, I began to paint in gouache over some old
letters which were dusting away in the back of old cupboards and
forgotten
for many years. I used the pattern of the words and tried to bring
them to life.
Painter and interior designer Rafi was born in
Tehran. From an early age he was inspired by nature and its glory.
At
age
sixteen
he
went
to
England
to continue his studies. He graduated in interior design from Rochester
College of Art in Kent and London College of Furniture. Rafi returned
to Iran and began teaching interior design. He later became the
director of the Kerman Museum of Modern Art. These are selections
