The heartbeat of death

By Sara Tajbakhsh

The Iranian

People act, children cry,
In a heartbeat, people die.

Bombs fall, cities rust,
In a heartbeat, today is dust.

People hurt, leaders are vain,
In a heartbeat the world goes insane.

Rain falls, the air is cold,
In a heartbeat, friendships are sold.

People change, tyrants seek fame,
In a heartbeat, nothing is the same.

Bullets are shot, buildings blow,
In a heartbeat, thousands of bodies flow.

People destroy, soldiers fear,
In a heartbeat, death is near.
