But arriving now by boatloads in Greece and Italy, Kurds are the Fertile Crescent's canaries, escaping national cages, refusing to be poisoned again. Iraqi Kurds know another Western attack on Saddam Hussein will further impoverish them, already caught between Saddam's embargo and the West's sanctions. Nostalgia: Miss Iran finalists, 1978
"Nostalgia" is a new section we're working on. We have in our possession three folders full of clippings from teen and women's magazines in the 1970s. They were collected by one of our dear readers when she was living in Tehran in her early teens. She's very shy about this and does not want to get credit for it. All I will say is: Thank you Sussan We will post these wonderfully silly pictures once or twice a week for your pleaure.
We start with Miss Iran finalists in 1978, including their names. Obviously beauty was not a major requirement for this contest - one more proof of how much we Iranians value women for who they are, not how they look, I guess :) ... click here to see full image

Person on the street
What exactly is a point of a survey taken of urban professionals living outside Iran? It seems to be mental masturbation since everyone seems to agree. If they didn't agree they probably would not be in the United States. What is most important, one would think, is what the person on the street in Iran thinks. Now that would be interesting.
